URGENT REPORTS-Fully armed Indonesian police and soldiers arrive in West Papuan town

We have received more urgent reports from Wamena, West Papua about a continuing Indonesian military operation which has left houses and churches burned down with livestock killed.
This is forcing hundreds of West Papuans to flee into the jungle as refugees, with little food or housing.
Local sources have reported that many fully armed Indonesian soldiers, police and special forces with sniffer dogs have arrived at the Wamena airport and are likely to depart to the Lanny Jaya Regency where a brutal Indonesian military operation is ongoing.
West Papuans in the Wamena area are very worried that the soldiers intend to kidnap and kill activists like they did to Papuan leader Martinus Yohame last month.
With foreign journalists still banned from reporting in West Papua by the Indonesian government, the Indonesian armed forces are operating with total impunity, burning houses and killing Papuan villagers as they please.
We desperately need journalist access in West Papua so that the outside world will know what is happening to our people.
Please send this draft letter to your elected representative, urging them to call upon the government to pressure Indonesia to let foreign journalists into West Papua.
